What We Do

As one of 650 National Teaching Schools we take a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession and providing support for other schools and settings. Teaching Schools are at the heart of a school-led system, leading the way in improving the quality of teaching and helping schools and settings to become even better.

Courses

Our courses are based in hubs around Hertfordshire at good or outstanding schools and settings where you can see children learning and practitioners will enjoy “Seeing it in Action”.

School to School Support

We can offer school to school support between schools for either one off requests or long term support.  We also offer bespoke training, including INSET day training, staff meetings, half day and full day training packages tailored to your school/setting’s needs.

Specialist Leaders of Education

We have a number of Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) who can support your school on both a strategic and practical level for a day visit or for a longer period. SLE deployments can offer school improvement opportunities and peer to peer support.  Our SLEs support individual leaders and teams in schools by coaching or facilitation, drawing on their knowledge and expertise in their specialist area. The aim of SLEs is to contribute significantly to improving the outcomes for children. SLEs will support high quality professional development of leaders.

Specialist Practitioners

Acorns Teaching School have a number of specialist practitioners to support early years and KS1 practitioners in PVI settings and schools. These outstanding practitioners assist our SLE’s, drawing on their knowledge and expertise in their specialist area.
