About Acorns

Welcome to Acorns Early Years Training Centre.

Acorns was designated as a National Teaching School in September 2015 with Ludwick Nursery School as the lead school for the Alliance. In September 2021, due to the introduction of Teaching School Hubs, and the de-designation of individual teaching schools, Acorns Early Years Training Centre was created. Our proven track record of Early Years expertise enabled us to join in partnership with Alban Teaching School Hub where we are now lead partners for the Early Years element/aspect of the Teaching School Hub and have representation on their strategic board.

With significant years of experience in this role, we have worked extensively across Hertfordshire supporting schools and settings with training and CPD to promote high quality early years practice. As a training centre we continue to build on this foundation, working collaboratively to share practice and provide excellent early years support. We also undertake commissioned work from the local authority and HFL Education. Please contact us if you require further information. We provide a range of different services to support training needs in both schools and early years settings throughout Hertfordshire and beyond. Our offer includes CDP for staff, bespoke staff training and brokered school to school support.

In partnership with Alban Teaching School Hub we  deliver ITT training ( 3-7 pathway) as well as  training for  ECT’s and the NPQEYL.

In January 2024, we were delighted to become a lead partner for the Reachout Stronger Practice Hub, East of England, supporting them with their programme of support which is being funded as part of the DfE’s Early Years Education Covid 19 recovery package.
